Is a permanent placed in the exile zone still "controlled" even though it is not on the battlefield?
I remember reading a rule that led me to believe that it was still under "control" but was in a different zone that kept you from doing anything with it.
I can't recall/find the rule that I read
Anything not on the battlefield has no controller, only owners.
Is there a specific rule that states this?
108.4. A card doesn't have a controller unless that card represents a permanent or spell; in those cases, its controller is determined by the rules for permanents or spells. See rules 110.2 and 111.2.
Sorry, I forgot that spells/abilities on the stack have controllers too.
