The only benefit would be 18 + only?

Unlikely. Also, thinking of it, it wouldn't be 18, it would be adultness as defined by place of residence. You have to be able to drive a car, marry and drink alcohol, legally or with permission of your parents.

Would there be an additional gathering option in the main menu of the app?

Not a fan. It blights the friendly nature of our boards and it isn't something we want to be known for.

What exactly would be in this 18+ section of forum? The same thing with cursing? I imagine that would get old pretty fast. I'm not really sure what it could bring to the table is all. And if you have an 18+ section...now you have to find a way to keep kids 17 and under from lying their way in, especially if {nudity} should appear somehow.

Besides, I can cuss like a sailor and haven't found it tough to watch my language here.

Its pretty ironic that {nudity} links to {purity}

The guys here make good points. Personally, I think it's a great idea. I teach so adult discussion is a rare pleasure for me. I will play mtg with younger folk at our local game store but usually I prefer to gather with guys my age. Like a separate forum, It's not unfriendly, it's just that adults enjoy adult company.

Grownups don't like swearing.

Perhaps, but smart people know the more words they can use to express themselves the better.
Then not allowing a few words will increase the need to search for more descriptive words. :)

That's nice theory, but the fact of life is that people don't like the words. Rather than trying to kick the horse, embrace this fact.

The point is, that in the majority of cases, civility and maturity is far preferred. Furthermore, it is clearly shown when people choose to respect another person and not offend them for gain or otherwise.
Now of course people can be offended by anything these days and sure, some people do need thicker skin, but the original point still stands. It is not necessary to offend someone just to make your point valid. Hence the fact that curse/swear words and socially inappropriate language is not necessary for effective communication.

I constructed a well thought, extensive and logical argument

The fundamental problem of your argument is this 'People need to realize that words are not offensive'. They don't and they wont, so the rest of your logic is false as it's based on false premises.

Sadly he's right... Not every one thinks the same... For example there's this old women that lives down the street from me ( I live in a collage town very very close to campus) and she just recently got called a couger while her daughter was around the old women got offended untill her daughter explained its not really ment to be offensive and what it means and she still got offended by it

I do not like the idea. I don't know or care about swearing/who wants to swear a lot, but an adult forums would drag away some experienced members from newer members, thus creating a disconnect. There would be fewer combos, and a lack of...shall we say a "mature presence" in the "kiddie" forums. Also, two different forums is just too darned of a confusing idea to deal with!

Not that it is a completely bad idea. Just saying that if you give a worker free vacations to paradise island for life he might decide to just live there ya know?

Very true. However, If you force him to work with b players in the cubicle, he may decide to quit. Island would keep him with us.

I'm not against the idea of an adult forum, but I do have to agree with coffee. It can and more than likely will take away from newer players that are under age. It can also take away from veterans to. Interacting with people of all ages and seeing there decks broadens your views on how to build decks or lets you see an idea from a newer player and build it to perfection. But if we have a forum for ourselves it'll be the same people every time we log in. Making it the same as playing with same boring people we play with everyday at home, thus limiting and hindering our views on deck building. Which is a big point to this forum.

It wouldn't be separate forum, it would be separate sections on Gathering, such as Private Pages, Beta or Moderators which we have now.

I kinda figured it would be seperate sections.
