If I tap {myr welder} to exile and imprint one of my artifacts can my opponent use {purify the grave} to keep the chosen artifact from the myr after I tap and declare what I am doing?
I know you cannot specifically counter creature abilities, but this seems different.
I believe so. If Purify was cast after the Myr activates the ability, it goes on top and resolves first, leaving no legal target for Welder's ability but remaining tapped. 😊

Ouch... That hurts! After he exiles it can I choose a different artifact to imprint or do I have to wait until next turn?
He removed the target of your ability, so it doesn't resolve. You have to untap your welder to use it again.
