Lol I just bought like my 4th RtR box and my wife flipped when I traded Atleast 75$ in cards for most of the box price
I try to explain to my wife that I'm selling cards I dont need and using the money to buy cards i do need so i wont have to spend any money from our bank account, but she doesnt get it. She thinks it needs to go into the account SO SHE CAN SPEND IT. Women......

Hahah my wife just wants to spend my money. I tell her to sell her own stuff and she can do what she wants with it.
My wife and I have set up "allowances" so we get a certain amount of money every month that we can use for whatever we want. Works pretty well since I use that money for Magic, etc and she can't really give me a hard time. :-)
I just buy the cards behind my wife's back and avoid all hassle.

My wife was the one who gave me the idea to return to playing and forced me to teach her the game... I felt so sorry that I spent few thousands NOK on decks and booster boxes and her answer to that was:
My wife: Are the cards worth of money that u spent on them...?
Me: Yes of course...
My wife: Then count them as our actives...

Me and my gf have our own accounts then a combined one. Half of both our earnings go into our combined account wich is for food etc. Then we spend our own money on whatever we want. I make the most atm since she's studying but when she gets her phd itll finally be my turn to mooch ;D
Two words: Seperate accounts! Been married 9 years and works great for us. I buy what I want, she buys what she wants, once we pay the bills that is.

Even that I fully agree with you... Seperate accounts do not necessarly prevent wife to complain on ur expanses if she is up to...:)

That would be because it still affects your net worth exactly the same. If you have 20k divided into 2 accounts, does it matter which one you pull 2k from for car repairs? You still have a total of $18,000.
Better to just run a budget and set an allowance for each of you, IMHO.
In MY honest opinion you should do whatever fits your life situation and your philosophy on spending. If ypu're married or have a serious relationship with someone you love you should be able to work something out about something as physical as money and income. (Physical is not the word im looking for but i cant rember the opposite of abstract. I keep thinking of cement.)
