The Deck That Won Me FNM last Night
8 {Island} 4 {Hinterland Harbor} 8 {Forest}
20 lands
4 {Axebane Guardian} 3 {Doorkeeper} 4 {Galvanic Alchemist} 2 {Tree of Redemption} 2 {Hover Barrier} 3 {Undead Alchemist} 2 {Fog Bank} 3 {Gatecreeper Vine}
23 creatures
3 {Divination} 4 {Sheltering Word} 2 {Increasing Confusion} 4 {Mind Sculpt} 2 {Unsummon} 2 {Sands of Delirium}
17 other spells
Sideboard
Notes: A deck I threw together for very cheap, 20 minutes before round 1. Little did I know it would go 8-0 and winner 1st place in FNM. This is the deck list I won with. It was a blast to play with and I'm going I continue playing with it. Any ideas on what I should add in?

Not possible.......😳
Awesooooome!!!
Yeah, that was my thoughts as well, but there isn't much in standard or in the meta that my store was playing that could get passed a 0/6 flyer. Let alone fog banks. Jund zombies brough me down to 12 because of messenger. But couldn't ever swing, all games ended with mill. I popped off infinite combo three times of the 8. But Jund, U/R delver, some rakdos aggro deck, Humans, some kind of a spirit deck, G/W flicker is what I played, plus a couple more I can't remember. But yeah, it's true. This deck bested the top decks at my store. Honestly it was rather unbelievable
How....
Hahahahaha ;D
So much win!
Basically all I did was play big defenders early, usually had 4-5 out. And hold off attacks until I either hit my infinite mill combo pieces, doorkeepered the hell out of them, or undead alchemist and over ran them with 2/2 zombie tokens that mill them for each damage they would of dealt, and then even more zombies come out. But humans had out numbered my defenders but all I was taking was 2-3 a turn. Casted a fog during that game which allowed me to survive enough to finish off the milling. I was astonished that this deck performed unlike anyone expected. I just threw it together because I wanted to make a deck using axebane. And it was pretty successful
I think you just you answered my "I want to make a mill deck but can't find a way to make it interesting" conundrum. I hope you don't mind if I make this and try it out! It looks fun!

I do not mind at all. The best part about it to me is I have been playing magic for a decade, and I have never come across a standard deck that is so inexpensive as this one. To succeed in standard a $200 deck is generally a must. I traded a snap caster Mage for this entire deck basically. Digging through the commons and uncommons standard box's at my store. Literatly built it 20 minutes before round 1 of FNM. I built it just to satisfy my want for an axebane deck. But by all means give it a try and enjoy. I call the deck, DDW. Defender Deck Wins.
I've been putting one together too! Thanks for showing me that it can actually be done :)
8-0 with 18 Land?

Read what {Axebane Guardian} does again ;)

8-0 with 18 Land?
With such a low mana curve and and axebane shenanigans, I can see it happening. He only needs 3 on the field.
This deck was mostly what I was going to use for a door to nothingness deck, and you may have answered what else needed to be in it haha..
I was thinking thought scour would be great and it's not bad for this deck type
This just looks fun I will have to build this just to troll some mates of my hahah
Play tested it some more and decided this was more effective.
+3 tree of redemption
+1 forest
+1 island
-1 fog bank
-1 doorkeeper

Dude...that is awesome! I am so going to try this deck out. It looks so fun. Well done!
Thank you very much. Trying to come up with ideas for either removal, or protection. Thinking about {Ranger's Guile}
{Mizzium Skin} or similar could be good. {Rootborn Defenses} also
What cards did u use in your sidebored?

I built it 20 minutes before round 1 of FNM. Didn't even have a sideboard. Probably witchbane orb. Negate. Test subject for alt win con, door to nothingness alt win con. Haven't put a sideboard in yet.
{Sheltering Word}
Protects creature, gains you life, and an Insane combo with Tree
Built this then faced a guy running {kessig cagebreakers} and {primordial hydra} I had no chance

yes I ran into trouble with trample as well. But I milled them before they had trampled enough over. Still working on a way of removal for this deck for creatures with tranple.
Added 2 unsummon and 4 shelterings. Shelterings targeting tree is stupid. Love that. And unsummon for big trampler to buy time.
Mike cannon just built a similar deck on gatheringmagic.com he uses white for oblivion ring looks pretty solid

Hah, never thought of sheltering + tree... Make sure you swap life totals with it first, you end up with the same total after but your tree is now huge...hilarious!
What did you remove to add the words and unsummons?
I would do {silent departure} over {unsummon} that way you can flashback late game.

dropped a lot of defenders to 3 total in the deck and a couple to 2. 24 creatures is plenty.

ya but I'm a fan of instant speed. The flash back is nice though especially since I'm not running a play set of it
Update.
-1 tree
-1 hover
+1 doorkeeper
+1 mind sculpt. Reason being more answer for undead alchemist. He is a game changer from what I've noticed
He's not really a budget card but what about {Jace The Memory Adept}?
Lol if budget wasn't an issues I'd splash red and a play set of bonfires. But I'm the king of budget. 50$ competitive standard deck? Sign me up
