Title: Cromat
Post by: peepew on October 10, 2012, 08:08:59 PM
Is it possible to make a strong legacy 5 color {cromat} based deck ? Also any tips / ideas would be appreciated IE: land count, mana base, creatures ?

You got the money for the mana base? Basically you need 3 of each dual lands and 2 of each basic. Then you can run cool dual spells like {abrupt decay} {terminate} and the like.

Actually I wasn't thinking of going duels. Probably stuff like  {Prismatic Omen} and {reflecting pool} and {exotic orchard} and {crystal quarry}

Don't forget about the elf that does the same thing as omen. Can't remember her name ATM.

I prefer the amulet to the piper. She is just to fragile.

Run four {birds of paradise} put the {cromat}'s in the sideboard and play 4 {living wish} to fetch them or the land/lands you may need. I would start there and work my way out. You don't want the cromat sitting in your hand and not be able to cast it.

{Show and Tell}, {Sneak Attack}, {Reanimate}, {Animate Dead} and other reanimate spells.

{Cromat} has a problem of its abilities do not equal their cost. +1 +1 generally shouldn't cost more then firebreathing (which is {R} for +1 +0). I personally wouldn't advise tapping out for anything less then an anthem effect (in Legacy). Regenerate is just OK. Wouldn't pay 2 for flying, and to destroy target blocking creature? I wouldn't pay anything because it shouldn't come to that.

That being said, there are a ton of kitchen table combos for {Cromat}. It's a decent commander and not really an amazing reanimator target considering you need to activate its favorable abilities with a color combination that doesn't support Sneak Show
