Ok ill kick this off with some rtr limited discussion.
What guild did you pick, how did it do, why did you pick it, and most importantly would you pick it again?
Selensya here, did great on pulls, but some bad plays put me at 3-3. I'd pick it again, but I'd probably splash blue to mix with white.
I chose izzet for the midnight and went 4-1 but it wasnt great. {psychic surgery} milled out against enemy mill decks three times. I figured out that izzet is super powerful in sealed, but only if you pull complementing cards for the mill, burn, or unblockable stratagies. Which the odds were too low.
Selesnya served me great with 3 4-1 events where i splashed azurious on two and golgari on the other (because i didnt pull detain or flyover cards). Selesnya is the safest bet, but a good (though rare) azurious pool will crush even the best selesnya builds. This is why i splashed azurious as much as possible to get the best of both. Tokens and dudes win games, but bounce, detain, and flyover dont care to much about tokens and dudes.
I picked azorius.
It's definitely slow, match up against rakdos is probably the worse.
{dramatic rescue} along with {detention junction}? were key with {archon triumvirate} beat stick equipped with {righteous authority}
{tablet of the guilds} does real work.
I played like poo against rakdos, and everyone else I outplayed. I had 9 creature, yes 9 in my deck. (Generally I like playing with at least 15-17)
9 creatures
18 lands
And 13 other spells.
I went Rakdos the first time and azorius the second time. I thought azorius played a lot better, especially against rakdos. There was just so much detain on curve that I could slow down the early threats and stabilize. After that I could just drop my flyers and I was set. I did have some cool synergy going on with enchantments like {ethereal armor}, {paralyzingly grasp}, {arrest}, and a {sphere of safety} though, so I'm not sure how it would have gone without that.
I picked Azorius and did horrible with no decent pulls. The next day we did a booster draft from the guild boxes and kept 2 of the card packs from the guild boxes for the prize pool. I was thinking of drafting Rakdos or Golgari and my first card was {dreadbore} so I kept it and then I started seeing good Golgari cards and drew those for a secondary. By the time the third pack was open I had totally abandoned Rakdos and was picking Golgari with a splash of white. The guy next to me passed a pack with {blood crypt} and I could not pass it up. After all was said and done i had a {Lotleth troll}, 2 {Loxodon smiter}, and some great common/uncommons for a solid tempo/Aggro deck. I went ahead and ran the 2 {stab wound} even though they are not to aligned with my strategy but they turned out to be just awesome in the final match. He was running a stall Golgari deck with {Vraska the unseen} but I was able to sneak the first win with the {Lotleth troll}. He only assigned enough to block the damage from the troll and left my 3/3 centaur unblocked.......he was at 4 life and I used the troll discard a creature to pump him that final bit to sneak in the last 1 damage to trample over his defender. The other match I was able to just swarm over him before he could build a defense. Went 3-0 and took my 8 packs :)
Selysnea I wanted to make tokens.
Then got tons of populate cards, and no token gen. :-/
Splashed blue for a little control
Took 9th out of 45
Top 8 made next round.
I did hree prereleases, saturday sunday and midnight. Picked Azorius, Izzet and Rakdos.
Picked Golgari. Terrible pulls, went 1-2 with a small pod
Three prelease events as well two single one 2HG first was fate giving me izzet cause it was last guild. Rakdos second golgori third. I would have picked something else then golgari on 2HG
Picked Rakdos.
Pulls were all over the board, with a lot of good Selesnya for some reason. But thanks to {Rakdos's Return}, {Stab Wound}x2, {Augur Spree}, {Launch Party}, and super solid Rakdos creatures, I stuck with them and tied for first (IMD with an Azorious player).
Rakdos = A++ would pick again.
I don't like Seylensia in drafting cuz you really need a synergetic deck that spams tokens and then populates them. You just won't find that consistency in a limited build. However there are some great above the curve selyensia creatures like {Loxodon smiter}, {centaur healer}, {selyensia charm}, and that {W}\{G} sorcery that makes a 3/3 centaur. Those cards were the reason I splashed {W} in my Golgari build and they really added some low CMC muscle to my deck.
Constructed is a better environment for a token build IMHO.
Rakdos and izzet, when I went rakdos I ended up pulling two jaces, niv and a hypersonic dragon, when I pulled for izzet I pulled a {dreadbore} and {blood crypt}. With my izzet deck (first pool} I went 4-0. With rackdos 3-1. Made both decks into full 60 card decks after.
I did really well with Azorius last week. Detain all the things!!!

I disagree I just pulled a 4-0-0 1st place win at my lgs tonight with a token deck that I thought had no synergey what so ever all g/w helps I had 3 {rootborn defenses} I think lol
I picked Golgari for my guild during the prerelease. Pulled {Abrupt Decay} from my guild pack, {Rakdos' Return}, and a bunch of other Rakdos cards so I went Jund for the prerelease. I didn't do very well. My measly 2-3 took me to 40-something-th place out of 100+ people.
I also pulled enough Azorius cards to make a second deck, but never ran it. It had 2 {Archon of the Triumvirate} and {Isperia, Supreme Judge}. Maybe I would have done better if I ran that deck instead 😓
