Title: Suggestion
Post by: Ace on October 06, 2012, 03:20:59 PM
I don't have the money for bondfires, so my question is can anyone give me a good suggestion for replacements for them? Something that does close to the same thing.

Well you have {Street spasm}
or {magma quake}
{Volcanic geyser} maybe?
but theres a reason bonefire is so pricey :P

If you are referring to {bonfire of the damned}, yea, can see why it is so expensive.
One other option is the old school {fireball} which you can choose to hit multiple targets with, there is also {flame wave}, though it is more expensive to play initially, it beats the fireball in total cost.
Unless you use a mana flood deck, then it does not really matter in the cost.
There is also {magma mine}, BOOM!

I agree about {Mizzium Mortars}. I think it's arguably better than bonfire in certain situations.

If you're using it as a board wipe its definitely better than hard casting a bonfire with 6 mana. You don't get the direct damage, but the fact that you can also use it as early as turn 2 to take out a creature with up to 4 toughness makes it versatile enough to be good. The only real disadvantage I see is that it's too hard to splash for because of the 3 red mana on the overload cost.
