Title: Korlash deck
Post by: Greg54js on October 02, 2012, 04:28:55 PM
Hey all.
So I recently got my hands on a copy of {korlash, heir to the blackblade} and I instantly thought of a MBC commander deck. My only issue here is I have never built a MBC deck of any kind. I know i'm including a copy of {urborg, tomb of yawgmoth} and {liliana of the dark realms} along with {liliana of the veil}. I need some suggestions for other awesome MBC cards in EDH. thanks so much guys.

Note: no more than 300 bucks total for the entire deck.

{Nirkana revenant} ;D
Anything that fetches land and is black. Tutors :P
Maybe some life drain? {Corrupt} {Tendrils of corruption} {consume spirit} {Exsanguinate}
With nirkana those get out of hand fast.
Maybe some simple black buff enchants for a super strong commander attack?

I was thinkin {tainted strike} and {phyresis} for shits and giggles as korlash kills opponents with 20 poison counters in one hit... Mwuhahahahaha 

{sorin Markov}
No He's banned in my book. He's too stupid. Dropping him and using that minus ability ruins the game and the fun.

Also mono black EDH has so many tutors that {Sorin Markov} + {Sorin's vengance} Combo is WAAAAAYY too easy

I'd scrap the deck that had those two cards it.

Why would you use a commander that does next to nothing when there are so many good black legends out there and then omit the cards that give you a fighting chance? Like {mikaeus, the unhallowed} or {chainer, dimentia master} the list is quite long.

Korlash is an f'ing beast. Especially in a MBC edh. I am most likely including those two legends but they will not be the commander.

Ya but you can't even use his grandeur ability in EDH so it just seems kind of a waste. Sure you can regenerate him, but regen only goes so far and he's not cheap to play so you might not see him as often as you like. Hey, whatever man. I will happily tromp that deck anytime...lol

I'd like to see you trump it. His grandeur ability isn't what makes him awesome. His regenerate and p/t = number of swamps you control is. You find a way to block a 20/20 first striking infector..

Lol, ummm, {path to exile} {swords to plowshares} {dispatch} {ray of command} {act of aggression} {celestial purge} {maze of ith} {mystifying maze} {dispense justice} {resounding silence} {tragic slip} {death wind} {tribute to hunger} {dismember} {ambush viper} ok I could this all night but that's just a few of the things that can be done on your turn, the list is humongous for the sorcery speed shizz.  My point is, he's mediocre at best and you have such a massive pool to grab from I just don't get why you'd pick him for your commander. Wow, time flies...

Except for the fact I have all of the swords giving him pro colors and equipment making him hexproof

Assuming your playing red and have that in your deck. Anyway I'm done with this petty argument. Korlash is in my opinion, better than Mickey or chainer

I'm not insulting or arguing, homes. Just saying there's better out there and you shouldn't settle for a mediocre black legend. You're better than that. Peace.

I don't think he's mediocre at all. Sure his grandeur ability has no use but that's what liliana OTDR is for. Plus lots of equipments including {stratasycthe} to double his p/t. You may think he's mediocre but built right he's friggin nuts. I swung for 33 flying infect one game. And another mean amount of poison in others

Yeah unless he's got counters from {ring of xathrid} and other p/t boosting enchantments.

Edit: plus I'm pretty sure everyone in that game will just auto scoop out of frustration.

Only sore losers concede...
You make a lot of assumptions my friend and I hope we get to play against each other sometime. I'm looking forward to it.

My reason for scooping against an {armageddon} would be that I play a grixis control edh and if I lose my land base I've pretty much lost. So I'm speaking from my point of view. However one point of view is not enough. I'll use another example of someone I know who'd auto scoop after an {Armageddon}. A mono green Azusa  player who's ramped out all of their lands. then
