Title: Trample
Post by: izik99 on October 01, 2012, 03:57:45 PM
If a trample ran over {fog bank} (lets say a 3/3) would it deal damage to me?

It would do 1 damage.

A creature that prevents combat damage will only prevent up to its toughness if facing a trample creature.

This is because you only need to assign lethal damage to it, like any other creature blocking a trample creature. If a 3/3 trampler attacks, you assign 2 damage to the fog bank (which is prevented) and the excess of 1 damage to the player or a planeswalker they control.

Oh, I guess I've been doing this wrong then.  Does that mean if I blocked a deathtouch creature with fog bank it would also die, or would the damage be prevented and therefore the deathtouch?

Deathtouch only applies if damage was dealt. Prevent means no damage dealt. {Fog Bank} lives to block another day.

Yes. Also, with Deathtouch and trample on a 3/3, it can assign 1 damage to fog bank and let 2 roll over.
