Title: DoP and O-Ring
Post by: Xanzurth on September 25, 2012, 10:59:30 PM
Ok so I was playing DoP and my opponent O-Ringed my {Avatar of Woe}, then I went on to defeat this player in a multi-player game. How come I did not get my Avatar back when his O-Ring left the battlefield?

Probably a bug.

Also, please don't use examples from DotP when arguing a ruling. DotP can teach new players rules that are pure s✳✳t.

Actually, DotP has it right. See rule 800.4d.
Since your opponent left the game (because they died), his O-ring trigger can't be created, so your Avatar will remain exiled.

It's not that it stays. There isn't a trigger due to the person being dead. The same thing if you swing for the kill against a 1 v 1, you don't get the card back.

DOTP is right

If they used a card like {Confiscate} tho you should get it back since there's no trigger. Correct?

Yes. Since it only gives control the control stops when the player who owns confiscates dies

All their cards will leave with them upon leaving the game. This includes any creatures controlled or cards exiled by any opponents.

{Praetor's Grasp} will lose its benefit if the opponent scoops/dies before the spell is cast, for instance.
Yes. But when the o-ring leaves, his owner is not in the game, thus nothing happens
