What are everybody's thoughts on a G/W life gain standard deck? Will it be competitive? {chalice of life}? {elixir of immortality}? Lots of g/w delay and life gain plus populate?
Maby splash blue for more control?

I LOVE your avvy harmon. Memory Lapse is probably one if my favorite cards ever. I don't think that {G}{W} lifegain could be standard competitive playable. I reccomend saving that stuff for the kitchen table, sorry.

Or the {Kitchen Finks} 😂
Format is important, G/W turbo fog / life gain is total possible....until {Rites of Florishing} rotates. {Chalice of Life} deck is hard, relies on many Lifelink creatures.
{whitesun's passage} rotates, {blunt the assault} rotates. But in an effort to refill your hand as quickly as possible to get more fog effects and life gain cards...losing {rites of florishing} kills the archetype.
Yay for extended :)

Thanks! One of my favorite old cards as well. Yeah, I was worried about g/w life gain being slow, but there are some good cards coming out in rtr that might support it. Populate could also help it out quite a bit. Ramp to {thragtusk}, flicker, and then start populating. I think there's also a card that let's you gain life for creatures coming into play? Idk.
You can do a {Roaring Primadox} deck. Keep bouncing {Thragtusk}. It's still really difficult and costly to bounce thragtusks, drop {chalice of life}, flip it, wait a turn....lots and lots of mana required

Yeah. And, elves and birds will be gone. :/. Do have pilgrim and untap a land elf.
It's not impossible. G/W Fog/Thragtusk deck could work. Competitive? Eh...different story.

Golgari zombies is pretty awesome. I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of those

Yeah. I've also heard some {B}/{G}/{U} zombie talk. I'm excited about this block!
I'm running B/W Lifegain Tokens and it is amazing
I think personally that Esper Spirits is taking over. We've been given great control cards, and aggro things like {Drogskol Captain}, {Lingering Souls}, {Midnight Haunting} and {Favorable Winds}. Already have {Geist of Saint Traft}. New RtR detain cards and a future with Orzhov, I think esper takes it. I'm banking heavily on it...and have been play testing it.
Got back from my playgroup and came away with lots and lots of plans for a nice Esper deck that still needs some work.

{Trostani, Selesynas Voice}
Combined with {rhox faithmender} life gaining spells, permanents, and abilities could get pretty intense...
