Title: Tibalt? Or no Tibalt
Post by: Righthandofavacyn on September 24, 2012, 05:29:17 PM
Ok I have a supa friends deck and am wondering, should I put Tibalt in it? See if I do, I might discard a planeswalker or something helpful but I guesss that's always the problem with Tibalt I guess if I used him just as a filler, I could have more time to set up. advise?

I thought it was SUPER friends, why invite the fan boy to the fight when there are so many super walkers out there?

I had him in casual burn deck with wheel of fortune I had tibalt on field and wheel of fortune in hand I was about to do 7 damage next turn with his -4 after using wheel of fortune to refill both our hands but it was the wheel that got pitched when I put the 4th counter on him

Sorry for my bad grammar. But don't think I will run him

He is the PW that everyone wants to be good.....but he's so not good.  Random discard is the suck unless you are making someone else do it.

I want to see how wizards builds a deck around him in the upcoming duel deck

Yeah I tried using him before and I discarded two mind sculptors and a karn so I'd rather not anymore

I bet the R&D ppl are drawing straws to see who gets stuck with him.

{Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded} was an experiment. What would a Planeswalker who just got his spark look like? While he is teh suck (you'd almost never want to discard a card at random), it was a test. I believe (gross speculation) that Sorin vs. Tibalt will have a slightly more grown up Tibalt....

I like Tibs in my Chandra/Madness deck where I want to discard.

He's tough to use, but when you use his +1, you need to ask "is the average card left in my deck better than the average card in my hand?"  You really need to know your deck well for that.

If I had more of him I would try a flashback with {elixir of immortality} deck

Actually, is the average card left in my deck being in my hand worth discarding the average card in my hand?

Most good plainswalkers work well with other plainswalkers in some way. Tibalt does not. He just makes you discard your good stuff and maybe even controls all creatures until end of turn. Bleh.

Liliana of the Veil for discard AND creature removal AND mass permanent removal.
Liliana of the Dark Realms for deck thinning, mana fixing, spot removal, buffs for lifelink vamps, AND black mana 4 LYFE.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad for lifegain, defense, buffs, AND taking control of anything useful.
Tamiyo the Moon Sage for defense, limiting your opponent's mana options, card draw, AND an emblem that basically says "Do you want to play this one out or accept the loss you just got right now?"
Chandra the Firebrand for keeping other PWs at bay, ...know what I won't list them all. But my point is this:

Tibalt is not good unless you REALLY TRY to make him good. Just like {Sorrow's Path}.

...which can be used with tibalt's ultimate to kill all of your opponent's weak creatures if you really want to.

Yea I have a {B}\{R} madness deck too but {lilana of the veil} is my "drug of choice" for that deck.  FYI, get your hands on some {anvil of bogardan} they just feed your hand, give you a free madness avenue, and it is better than {howling mine} since your opponents have to discard a card instead of getting 2.

{Tibalt,the Fiend-Blooded}

Run 3 in my {Burning Vengence} deck, awesome 2 drop for that deck.  He sucks else where.

It's the 'at random' part on his +1 that makes him suck. Otherwise he would be incredibly useful.

Your playing rdw and somehow you made it to late game and deck drawing. You have extra mana because you top decked a {lightning bold} you use his +1 and get to discard a flash back card. That's how I see him useful.
