Got a question I have not been able to find a good answer to, does the creature ability infect affect a creature untargetabble by spells or abilities an opponent controls?
And can the infect negatives counters be prevented by prevent damage?
Infect is a mechanic, not an ability, so yes it would "infect" the creature with -1/-1 counters even if it has hexproof or shroud. And, yes, preventing damage does prevent the -1/-1's because infect is "deals damage in the form of..."

Well, infect is still an ability, but it doesn't have anything to do with targeting. It just changes how the damage is dealt. A {Fallen Ferromancer} couldn't use it's "{1}{R}, {T}: Fallen Ferromancer deals 1 damage to target creature or player." ability on {Geist of Saint Traft}. But if the 'mancer blocked the Geist, he would get a -1/-1 from combat damage.
Also, if you {Humble} the Ferromancer, it would lose infect.
So, wait, if the Ferromancer used its tapping ability to hit a creature, it would deal standard damage?

No. He means that he can't use the ability to target a hexproof creature even though it's dealing infect damage.
