Violence.  And if that doesn't work, use more violence.

I would tell said player that the game requires him/her to tap and if he doesn't start doing it then he will not be invited to play with your group.
It isn't like it is some huge effort on his/her part but it does cause massive nightmares for others trying to figure out where the game is at versus that player.
If he/she still doesn't then stop playing against that person. They will get the message at that point hopefully.
If not not playing them will at least increase your enjoyment ofthe game.

Tell them their spell didn't resolve or their creature was not cast and goes directly to the grave yard because they did not tap any land.

No that can be to their advantage.

Just stare at them and wait till they tap. Tehnically you are supposed to reveal the spell and then tap the appropriate mana then pass priority. So priority is never passed to you unless he taps his mana so according to the rules you have to wait.

Maybe he is on to something. Tapping is such a waste of time. Hell casting spells is a waste of time. Building a deck is a waste of time. I kid, but really the next time he does that the group should just declare he lost the game.
Something else kinda like this... People to group all their mana on top of each other...

You can't play the game as intended if you don't tap your lands. It's a horrible habit to be into, and one that I actually can't believe is going on.

It's like...one of the first rules you learn and must abide by in order to play.

Off topic but still relevant is anyone else bothered by people who put non lands behind their lands?

Not really it is how people learn to play or their personal preferences. For example, even though I was taught with my deck sitting like most people put theirs I started finding it more comfortable to put it sideways.

I think thats rude. We all know what lands do, but sometimes we're not sure what the other cards do.

I don't like when someone has what appears to be a stack of 3 mountains, and then they tap all three and beef something up with that hidden {Kessig Wolf Run} on the bottom.

You could get a warning/game loss from a tourney for that.

Meh, it was a tabletop game.  Someone distracted whoever was playing and my friend played a Wolf run and swung with it.

It's always about space you have. If I'm squeezed in a Prerelease with 100+ people at my lgs..yeah that's ok. But it's pretty common to put lands closest to you, spells in front, grave and exile to the side and put your attacking creatures in the "red zone."
Shady people who try to hide things are the same people who sleight of hand.

Remember, always good to pay attention to what someone else is doing, what turn it is, how many cards in hand , etc.

Nothing like "did I play a land this turn yet?" and letting your opponent play 2 and bomb the game.

I have a habit of untaping my lands at upkeep. But only when im playing with close freinds. Its like we all do it when we play together. It cause some confusion but nothing major.

Tapping is a cost that you must pay to get mana. Does he also draw cards from {Altar's Reap} without sacrificing a creature? Same principle.

I'd just stop playing with them, or start watching them like a hawk and calling them out when they don't tap. He'll get tired of getting embarrassed pretty quick and learn to tap when he needs to.

I recommend playing like youre at a ptq in every match if you want to get better and more competitive. If you want to stay casual table top then play how your friends play, but if thats not your goal think like an athlete and practice how you want to play at a competition. It's still fun as long as the people you play with want to be just as competitive.
