I'm not so sure the equipment specifically reads that it is what causes damage to the rest of the opponents creatures. The equipment does not have death touch. So you would probably have to boost the creature using the equipments ability to deal a deadly blow to the rest of the opponents creatures.

So let me get this straight....if I have a {spikeshot elder} in play as well as {onyx Mage}. If I use the Mage to give the elder deathtouch until the end of turn and then activate spikeshots ability and target a 6/6 creature it will kill it or does deathtouch only apply for combat damage?
Deathtouch applies to any damage, not just combat.
