How can I get involved in higher levels of mtg?

Firstly, this should have probably been posted in the general tab, but not to worry one of the mods will no doubt move it there later.
My suggestion is to ask your local game store if they know of anything that's happening in your area (other than friday night magic's I'm guessing)
The other way is to check on the wizards page they usually advertise higher level tournaments and such.
Well I would talk to my local game store but the nearest one to me that has fnm is like 2 hours away...so that's my problem
