when a card has protection from artifacts and is attacked by a living weapon with the black germ wouldn't the power become zero since the card with protection from artifacts blocks and the germ gets its power from the artifact?
Naw, the germ itself is not an artifact, no more than {Mikaeus, the Lunarch} is an artifact for being equipped by an {Inquisitor's Flail}.
:)
If u read the living weapon text the germ is black.

Sorin asked because in our match, I attacked with a {lashwrithe} and he blocked with a pro arti creature. Its not a bad question.

There are no bad questions, and please don't hesitate to ask.
Posters, please don't belittle others when they ask genuine questions. We all started from 0 knowledge state and built from there.
Equipment and Auras only add to the power and toughness of the creature to which they are attached. A 3/3 {U} creature with a {Greatsword} doesn't deal 3 point of damage from a blue source and 3 from an artifact. It just turns the creature into a 6/3 {U} creature.
Does that help?
Does a pro arti creature "drop" equipments if it gains protection after equiping?
Yes. {Tel-Jilad Defiance} is a great combat trick for removing equipment from a creature mid-attack. Problem is, it doesn't work on {Sword of Feast and Famine} or {Sword of Body and Mind} since the sword gives pro-{G}.
Protection stops a creature from enchanted or equipped by things it is protected from. They "fall off" the next time a player gets priority.
