Title: Underrated cards in standard
Post by: Danielkix on August 31, 2012, 08:34:38 PM
I recently read an article on this and it made sense that {aven squire} is underrated. It said its a great beating stick. What are cards you consider to be underrated or underused in standard?

I think {Revenge of the Hunted} is underrated, and is one of the best {G} removal cards in the format. It's worth it
at full price, and double worth it as a miracle. It can also throw opponents off the {Bonfire of the Damned} scent, if you're into toying with Blue players.

{Cloudshift}. Holy crap this card is good.

{Aven Squire} and the {Knight of Glory}/{Knight of Infamy} are above the curve for sure. They both produce more power, and more abilities then their CMC would suggest, at common and uncommon. I'm a fan of all 3.

I love pulling {revenge of the hunted} even if it's turn 2 on a 1/1. I've played 2 at full price back to back before to win games.

I played it turn 2 on a {Birds of Paradise}, a quick 6? I'll take it.

Also on a {champion of lambholt} swing with all your creatures and all damage goes through!

{Revenge of the Hunted} + {Dread Slaver}
I made a {Dread Slaver} deck because everyone else was playing frites. So they pull out their big creature and I take it.
Without {Revenge of the Hunted} this dek just would not be possible.

He said Aven Squire was underrated in limited, not standard.

{aven squire} is one of my absolute favorite cards. I have at least two in every white deck. Back in conflux, I'd be more excited about getting this card than my rare (well except {progenitus}😝). Worst case scenario, he is a flyer chump. No down side.

{Unbreathing Horde}. I see a ton of zombie decks and none are running this card. Coupled with {endless ranks of the dead} AND it runs off your graveyard too? It can get huge pretty quick.

I'm kinda thinking {Witchbane Orb}.  I don't hear many people talk about it or use it, anyway.  Don't know about everyone else.

For me {terrifying presence}
a fog were I control 1 creature being allowed to do damage.
I rarely see it played by green players at my LGS.

I like it. Makes a good sideboard for blink/Snapcaster hate.

You know the horde only checks once right?

Yeah. That's where resurrection spells come into play.

I like { staff of nin} it shuts down exalted decks and it is extra card draw not to hard to get out in a controll deck either.
