Title: Brainstorm
Post by: Richardalcala on August 28, 2012, 07:28:03 PM
Can I {brainstorm} a miracle as long as it is the first card drawn out of the three? Thanks.

Yes, you reveal it and don't put it in your hand. Resolve the brainstorm and then you can cast the miracle card.

Hmm. Probably have to finish the ability which forces you to put 2 cards back on top.

It's a good question

See, yOu have to play it right away. It's part of the mechanic. If you don't, you don't get miracle ability.

So yes or no. Couldn't find a ruling on it.

You still have to resolve {brainstorm} before you can use the miracle. So if it is the first card draw from {brainstorm} then you reveal it put it to the side then draw the next 2 cards place the 2 cards from your hand then you can cast the miracle.

I'd say no since yøū have to satisfy brainstorm first.

I think it's been said before with {faithless looting} (faithless miracle thread)..you have to finish the cards ability before proceeding.

Bj will chime In eventually.

The way Miracle is you have to Play it right away..no if ands or buts about it.

I believe that is correct. You have to reveal the miracle card as soon as you draw it, but the miracle trigger doesn't go on the stack until brainstorm is finished resolving, at which point you can then cast the card for its miracle cost.

Of course, {Faithless Looting} is a sorcery, so I don't see how that'd be your first card drawn. At least not in Standard...

Searched for faithless miracle thread (sorry)

What I meant is the explanation helps with this topic as well.

Standard no because it's a sorcery.

Chime in? ??? What am I, a dinner bell?  😂

Here's the skinny on miracles. When you draw the first card for the turn, as you draw you may decide to reveal it if it has miracle. If you don't reveal it as you draw it, you lose the ability to miracle it.

If you chose to reveal it as you draw it, (it stays revealed until the card leaves your hand, that ability resolves, or that ability otherwise leaves the stack), the ability goes on the stack. It is still considered part of your hand, for cards that care (like {Maro}).  You can put it back on you library as {Brainstorm}'s second part.

When the trigger goes on the stack, you still haven't cast it yet, you won't decide whether or not to cast it until the trigger resolves. A player with instant-speed discard (a scarce ability, but {Jace's Archivist} could do it) could respond and remove the card from your hand and prevent you from casting it.
