If I attacked with a double strike trample and opponent blocked with first strike deathtouch what happens? I know they both deal their first strike damage to each other, but does my creature die before the normal damage is done?
Happened tonight. I attacked with 10/10 double strike trample, opponent blocked with 7/7 first strike deathtouch. Does 3 damage go through or 13? Thanks
3 deathtouch kills him before normal combat damage can be dealt
Only the first strike damage would happen here. So you would assign 7 damage to the death touch creature. Then all damage happens at once. And 3 damage would go through to the opponent. The normal wouldn't happen.
I dont know why but in DotP Dubblestrike beats first strike.
I have no idea if this is wrong or actually the rule.

It depends on each creatures P/T. If a 3/3 double strike is blocked by a 2/6 first strike, then the 2/6 would die. It's all about the P/T. But if that 2/6 had deathtouch, the double strike would die.
First strike deals damage once. Double deals twice; first strike damage AND normal combat damage.
and ghebert has it nailed down. somebody bring a gavel because this case is RESOLVED.
