Title: Deck Brainstorm
Post by: JaCe BeLeReN on August 21, 2012, 11:18:58 PM
I got the random idea of a {W}/{B}/{R} Midrange control using {Kaalia of the Vast}+ Grislebrand of some other fattie as a win con. Suggestions? Legacy please.

You would need a fair ammount of killspells to stall. Also (unless I misunderstood you) you can not win until turn 4-5? That seems rather slow for legacy.

Turn 4-5 kill is not slow for legacy if you have the board locked down.  Sure decks can go off for a T2 kill but that usually requires a king fu grip and a lack of FoW from your opponent.

^^^ this. Most legacy kills are turn 6-7. It's why (in a post I made in a previous thread) why legacy is a balanced, healthy format. Decks that win in turn 1-2 are immediately made irrelevant against decks with {Force of Will} or {Daze} (control). Decks that put out insane aggro beat control because they have so much redundancy that you can't disrupt enough threats. Decks that pull insane combos, beat those aggro decks because they don't disrupt, and can't put enough power to thwart them. It's magics triforce.

Decks like Merfolk, Elves and Goblins are aggro control, but don't have enough removal to beat other aggro decks. Decks like Maverick don't have enough disruption to beat Combos. RUG Delver and Stoneblade have a hard time against Aggro like Maverick.

While there might not be "tons" of effective Legacy decks archetypes, it's shifting enough to keep it exciting. I like it more then Standard in that regard. I like that Dredge and Storm are appearing more then they have.
