So I was using my MBC on cockatrice...just trying to make it better and stuff. I was facing a {Blood Artist} zombie deck ({B}/{U}). The only deck I seem to have real problems with, surprisingly. It was game 3.
I started out with a decent hand. I knew it was too slow for his deck though, but I kept it anyways. He started out strong with a {Diagraff Goul} and later a {Blood Artist}, none of which I had drawn the removal for.
It was getting nasty. I {Dismember}ed his {Blood Artist} (those can get out of hand fast) and cast a {Phyrexian Obliterator}. My opponent welcomed it with a {Phantasmal Image} of itself. I Swung with the obliterator. He let it through. Then I {Black Sun's Zenith}ed to clear the field.
My opponent got right back on his feet with a {Geralf's Messenger}...my deck's worst enemy. I was down to 1 life and his messenger had not died yet. My next card? {Sever the Bloodline}!! (a great sideboard card!)
The game continued on. He casted a {Diagraff Goul} eventually. I casted {Life's Finale}, killing the goul and getting rid of his last Messenger and two blood artists. He had one left.
The game continued on. I flooded the field with {Lashwrithe}s, and eventually he couldn't kill all the germs. I had 1 10/10 germ out, and he was at 15 life. I casted another one and did not equip it because he always pulled {Tragic Slip} shinanigans with my dead germ tokens.
I swung for 10 and he took it. At this point I was feeling very secure, with a mutilae in hand, a sever the bloodline in hand and graveyard, and a black sun's in hand. It was 5 life to 1 life, in my opponent's favor.
On his turn, he casted {Phantasmal Image} on one of my germ tokens, which died immediatly. He then proceeded to take out both of my 10/10 germs with 2 spoonfulls of {Tragic Slip}. Ouchie, that hurt!
Next turn I topdecked a {Staff of Nin}. He passed his next turn. Down to 4 life now. I drew 2 lands on my turn. Next turn he passed again, and I pinged him with nin again. Down to 3. On my turn I drew a removal and...{Vampire Nighthawk}!! finally something I could put my 3 germless lashwrithes on!
Next turn I would win for sure. He drew his last {Blood Artist}. Whatever, I thought. I have 2 {Sever the Bloodline}s at my disposal. My opponent then casted my worst nightmare: {Black Sun's Zenith}. his artist would die now. That was it.
But no! I tapped my {Staff of Nin} and killed the little bastard myself. I still lost, but at least I killed his last creature!!! That is the way of mono black.
