Title: Jace and witchbane orb
Post by: Richardalcala on August 18, 2012, 09:17:24 PM
If I have a {jace memory adept} and he has a {witchbane orb} can I still draw a card with jace +1. Or do I have to get rid of orb?

Since they are two separate statements I think you can still draw a card, the second effect just fizzles. I'm not sure though....
EDIT: Nope, retread the rulings on Jace, you don't get the card. The effect is countered. Resolved 🔨

You can't target them, so if you want to activate it in the first place you need legal targets. You could target yourself. Otherwise, you can't put the ability on the stack.

Bonus knowledge: if you activate the ability and it gets countered (say with {Stiffle}) Jace still gets +1 because it's the cost of the ability, not an effect.

Good to know so his not a big fat turd sitting there. PS next turn I hard castes {vanishment} then made him mill the orb with jace. XD
