Title: Post rotation blues
Post by: Imdowd80 on August 18, 2012, 02:06:45 PM
How big of a loss will phryxian mana be in standard?  I'm thinking it's gonna be a huge loss. No more payin life to use off color cards.

Nope shock lands. You will still be able to pay life.

Phyrexian mana ruined games. It was such stupid advantage, like {Dismember}, {Phyrexian Metamorph}, {Mental Misstep}, {Gut Shot}. They should never make cards that let you spend life instead of mana.

Free spell cards are always a bad idea. It effect games on different levels, but in the case of Phyrexian mana it made it worse cuz any deck can run them. In a way I'm glad they will be gone. It makes ppl have to find new ways to put kill or draw in the deck that isn't free.

I thought it was a cool idea because of that reason.
Phyrexia: "We'll give you access to abilities beyond your color."🌀
Me: "Great!  You guys are super-duper!"😊
P: "We just ask one thing in return."😌
M: ???
P: "Sacrifice a bit of life. NBD"😏
M: "You got it!" 👌

If they would have made it where one mana cost 4 life. Or 5 i think then it would have been better

Philosophically I disagree. I don't think you should pay life instead of mana ({phyrexian mana}), I don't think a creatures only drawback should be its mana cost ({Primeval Titan}), and I don't think they should have counters you can't remove (Infect).

They seemed to have violated all of my principles in 1 block :P

Sounds to me like you hate magic: the gathering! ;)

Long live Phyrexia! :D

I wish the Phyrexians would fight the Eldrazi, then we don't have to deal with either of them anymore.

And I love MtG, like anything you "love" you get let down sometimes. :)

Duel Deck: Phyrexia Vs. Eldrazi.

Yes. Yes I would buy that.

Dismember- gave rdw an answer for {kor firewalker}
Phyrexian metamorph- ok really good
Misstep-?i never really saw once m12 came out.
Gut shot- don't remember seeing it played to just recently.
And every other phyrexian mana card flat out suck. Maybe hex parasite but no where close to what it tried to replace. ({vampire hexmage}).

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, because I loved all three of those. I DO think letting Prime Time fetch two of any land and not just basic broke him. Meh.

If he only grabbed basics he wouldn't of been more expensive the sun Titan.

I don't mind paying for life. I am just glad to see {memorcide} and {surgical extraction} go. It's like and buy the way lets get rid of your win con and let me see what else you got in your deck. I can't stand those cards.

I see that everyone forgot the {birthing pod}
A card that let people construct a whole deck around its mechanic.
Same goes with {mortar pod} I guess

{mutagenic growth} was only really insane in infect decks.

I'm going to miss the whole block. So many cool scars cards.. all those cool artifacts with great mechanics. :'(

I will miss alot of the cards rotating out, but when they do; it means ppl will have to start being more crafty when deck building.

Not a shot at you just at the net decking.

I will only miss {Wurmcoil Engine}. He was one of the first mythic rares I was like "wow...that is so playable", being the spike I am.
