Ok so the basics of it is that I bought a legacy fun pack. Which basically includes a random arrangement of legacy help cards. I found a treasure trove of cards and a big question mark for others. Many of the cards include the ability "banding" and since I had so many of them (talking 20-40 creatures with it and cards to support it), can someone please tell me..... WHAT THE HELL IS BANDING?????

What does it do? I'm not making the deck to be competitive but just because I have so many cards with it. Just for 💩 and giggles. So If it's the worst ability ever, what is it? Lmao.

Agreed. It'll honestly make you dumber having learned it.
Nah it's not that bad. Just super confusing to understand the mechanics of it all.
Have a read in the rules section of this app about banding. By then someone might be able to answer some of the more intricate questions about it.

The oversimplified version is that attackers in a band act and must be blocked as one creature, and both attackers and blockers in a band decide where the opposing combat damage is assigned instead of your opponent deciding how to assign damage. (I think.)
Part of the hard part is determining which groups can enter into a band. All creatures with banding can band plus one non-band guy. "Bands with other ____" can only band with other creatures that ALSO say "Bands with other _____".
See {Master of the Hunt} if you don't feel like you're confused enough yet.
Better yet, just burn any card with Banding on it. Make the world a better place.

Banding basically is an ability that does nothing, yet too much, and is secretly plotting to destroy the game of magic. I've seen cards with banding spontaneously combust, burning whole decks filled with precious cards. Forgot banding, or it will be the death of you 😖 :D lol

Ok. To all the nay Sayers out there. I have completed the impossible! I have created a banding deck on banding day. Check it out in the casual. Let me know what you think. All the cards that are in there came from the legacy fun box I got at the LGS (including some of the plains)

IMO, banding isn't so bad. Bands with others is the real kicker.

Haha ya. I played another game with it and was eliminated right away. I have seen why it is so useless. I basically didn't even use the banding the entire games. I just kept attack with my flying banders.
In spirit, it was a cool idea. The problem is the amount of rules and complexity aren't worth what little benefit you get from banding.
I think they executed similar ideas better with exalted and Soulbond.

See, the funny thing about multiplayer is:
The player with the bad draw tends to win in the end. Nobody attacks him or wastes their resources denying him a good drop.
If you have a notorious instant-win combo, on the other hand...

Amen to the conclusion of that article. I came across a few of these baffling banding bastard cards from the dark ages of wizards r&d. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who was flummoxed by this ability.
Haha I love reading rants like that. I think I'm gunna add a big powerhouse creature to the banding deck that boosts all creature that attack/block. Suggestions? Not gunna waste an Elesh Norn on this deck....
