When Cryptoplasm becomes a copy of a creature at the beginning of the upkeep, does it take the power/toughness of that creature as well; or does it stay a 2/2?
{Cryptoplasm} would become a straight copy of the creature, including power and toughness, and it's copy ability.
Also note it will only copy the printed power and toughness of the creature. Meaning if you copied a 1/1, even if it was pumped by a {Giant Growth} making it 4/4, your {Cryptoplasm} would only be a 1/1.
Cool. My buddy said it stays a 2/2 when he copied my 1/1 spirit token, when I {Gut Shot}ed it. I was like "no. It BECOMES a copy. RTFC!"
Then he said no.... So I gave an example.
"what about {Quicksilver Gargantuan}? It says it becomes a copy but is still 7/7. Would {Cryptoplasm} say 'but is still 2/2'?"
He was like, "no that's a state based rule!"
I said "so my {Phantasmal Image} comes in as a copy but is a 0/0 so just dies?"
He got mad and scooped.

Very simple. You make up a rule that helps you. Say it with confidence and use big words to try and confuse your opponent. BAMM!! Rule works you win
Lol. I don't think he "made it up". I think it was the way his brother taught him to play, being that the deck he is using used to be his brother's. So, in turn, his brother lied to him and he thought "hey this is the way I was taught and have been playing for a year so it's right"... Until I showed him the rule lol. But it's good.
