If I have a creature on the field with say { rancor} enchanted and { humility} hits the field does the bonus from { rancor} still apply and what happens after humility is in play and say I cast a { angelic destiny}
Yes to both because humility only affects the creatures not the enchantments or auras on the creature. Humility would make the creature a 1/1 with no abilities but when SBA are checked again it would be a 3/1 with trample.
Excellent question!
This one is a matter of layers and how they are applied (CR613).
1) Since {Rancor} was on the field first and {Humility} came after, Humility's ability removal effect will apply (layer 6) since it has the most recent "timestamp". (that just means 'newest' on the field) So the creature will lose all of its abilities and lose the Trample from Rancor.
Now, the P/T specific number is applied first, because of its layer (7b) making it a 1/1 and then the P/T modifier will be applied after (+2/0).
When all is said and done, you'll have a 3/1 with no abilities.
2) Now, you enchant your 3/1 with {Angelic Destiny}. This will have the newest timestamp, so you should end up with a Flying, first striking Angel that is 7/5 (1/1, +2/0, +4/+4).
Cool?
How can humility take away the trample when it is granted by the {rancor}? When SBA are checked will it not "see" the {rancor} and apply the modification from there? I understand that any static, triggered, or activated ability from the creature are gone.
Nvr mind answered my own question by reading the card. Because of the wording of {rancor} the creature doesn't get trample as with the +2/+0, it "has" trample. Now I see how {humility} can take it away.
Yeah, this one really comes down to CR 613. It's not a trigger, state, or anything like that, just how Characteristic changes are applied to creatures.
Thanks had the question come up in a game last night
