For those who have been playing since revised came out, you should recognize this old combo, given a new twist to make it a true turn one win
2 {elvish spirit guide}, 2{simian spirit guide} {channel} and {fireball} or {flaming gambit}
Classic, update with {Banefire} to get around a fatal redirect or {Force of Will}. 😉
The ultimate classic, no draw, no land turn 1 win! {Mox Ruby} + {Black Lotus} + {Channel} + {Fireball}.
The worst part is I have actually seen it occur. The best part, I wasn't on the receiving end. :)
OP combo is sweet too and thousands of $$ cheaper. :)
Nice combo, though yea, the price issue is the catch on it.
The biggest catch the combo I had put out preventing it from being a true turn 1 ( regardless of whose) kill Is the {channel}
And the fact that {Channel} is restricted in Vintage, and banned everywhere else. ;D

How does {banefire} get around {redirect} since its not being countered or prevented?
I didn't mean literally {Redirect}ed. You're right. If they {Shining Shoal} you, you're toast. I should have left it at countered or prevented.
According to the legalities, {channel} can be played in several formats

Well sure:
Casual (no restrictions)
Freeform (REALLY no restrictions, 16 {Black Loti} if you want)
Prismatic
Singleton (you can only have one in a 100 card deck, so why restrict it?)
Commander (same)
Vintage (like I said)
Classic (MTGO, and it's restricted there too).
Just sayin'
