So I was thinking about making a sideboard that splashes a color into my main deck. That being said does different basic mana have to be included in the sideboard?
If you cannot cast cards in your sideboard with the manabase in your mainboard, then yes.
It'd be tough to fit a whole other color and strategy into 15 cards, though.
Ive done this a couple times ive found that only effect lands or duals should be sided (unless youre playing mono control). I am actually doong this with my heartless deck right now. The deck focuses on {r} but i find myself siding in 4 {frost titan} a lot. To make this work i remove a swamp for a {cavern of souls} in aggro match ups, and remove a nonland and actually up my total mana count against control.
Aight so basic lands need to be sideboarded. I'm splashing green in a B/R burn deck for birds of paridise and rancor to speed me up a bit

If you're just splashing, you might want to sideboard some dual lands instead of basics, like the guy above was saying. In your situation, instead of side boarding forests, I'd recommend {Rootbound Crag}s or {Woodland Cemetary}.
Instead of putting them in the sideboard I just put them in the main deck. So if I don't use green cards in the deck, I still just use them as red mana which is the base color.
Thanks for the help guys
