Title: Footsore creatures
Post by: Deathseide on August 08, 2012, 06:31:51 PM
If you combine the artifact {caltrops} with {animate artifact} and {venemous fangs} you get something which will make most creature attack decks pause.
Toss in an artifact or enchantment to deal with indestructables and pro artifacts and you have control of the attack board.

Be nice in a U/R burn deck since it would wipe out your creatures too. Or maybe in an Artifact deck (splash U) with other means of direct damage.

Or have a {lashknife barrier} to nullify the damage to your creatures

Would the caltrops kill itself? He would be a 3/3, so the damage wouldn't be lethal, and the effect he would have is "destroy the OTHER creature

You would not attack with the animated {caltrops}

You couldn't attack with anything. At least, nothing without pro-artifacts or indestructible.

But you could attack with caltrops without killing it, as the fang's effect says "destroy the OTHER creature". It wouldn't destroy itself, would it?

Use a {basilisk collar} for the same effect plus life gain.

Useful in a {fog} deck, though {fog} is useless against this, as the condition for damage being dealt is simply attacking.

Using whatever varient suits your play style works.
If you want to be really mean have a {vigor} in play on your side, and a {netting imp} if they have one and you have black mana capability
