After playing some cockytrice games with my mbc, including a game against delver that was over 35 minutes long (which I won...thank you {Shimian Specter}), I made some tweaks to it.
Please suggestions please! :D
Love decks like this. Everything I would have suggested is in your sideboard. Well done sir, I may build one similar.
Updated with card descriptions
thanks, mr ghetto :)
I like it. Especially the descriptions on why you have the cards. The descriptions really help less knowledable, ( me), people to see why it is a great deck. Must remember some of your reasons in my future decks especially sideboards which I've never done.
(Only 1 constructed and 2 draft FNM so far so still learning)
Again great deck.
No { Lilliana of the dark realms} with the swamp stuff?
With MBC it seems like yu have to choose either veil or dark realms. They do not have synergy with eachother. If I had dark realms my deck would have {Consume Spirit} and {Griselbrand}...totally different deck. Not saying dark realms is bad mbc...just not the same as what I want.
Well, it's definitely not fun to play against.. Unless I manage to {Wrack with Madness} your {Phyrexian Obliterator} lol
My first game testing this on cockytrice I accidentally clicked a nonstandard game...the guy was playing all-out affinity.
Ge got {Darksteel Collosus} out t3 and I used {Geth's Verdict}. he quit on turn 5 because I had {Lashwrithe} equipped to {Inkmoth Nexus} lol
In my experience the new Liliana is really quite weak. I had her in the first version of my MBC deck, which is completely different than Coffee's, and she was a massive disappointment. Her ultimate is super weak in comparison to Liliana of the Veil to boot.
Nice deck! {tormented soul} might be a good card for this deck. 1 drop, unblockable. Great target for {lashwrithe} also.
Good suggestion. I'll playtest it. I like the way my mana curves right now, so I would have to remove 1-drops in the deck to make room. Don't really see what I could take out since I like the control 1 drops (t1 {Distress} + {Surgical Extraction}).
It is a good card. Adding it or not will be a matter of preference. Do I want midrange control or aggresive creatures?
I think the Tormented Soul is a pretty good idea. VI'd take out one of each Duress and Distress for them. They're good, but late game they can be duds, whereas the Tormented Soul can be a game ender.
I like the idea. I'll test it next chance I get. Reason I have 4 of both discard tools is that I always want one t1. Someone may keep a hand just because of 1 card they have. Making them discard it is important.
I'd drop the 4 {Duress} and sideboard 2 {Surgical Extraction} in favor of {Tragic Slip}.
My reasoning is as follows:
1) {Surgical Extraction} is brilliant for breaking up combos. Most decks are not combo decks. Extraction does not cantrip, and loses some value in faster games.
2) {Duress} IMO, does not offer the same draw value (either initial hand, or later draw) as {Tragic Slip}. {Dismember}, {Go for the Throat} and {Tragic Slip} just synergize better.
3) {Duress} does not cantrip (second time I've mentioned a card that does not replace iteelf). I am not attempting to say that all cards that don't cantrip stink (far from the truth) and I am quite familiar with the value of seeing an opponents hand, I am even more aware of it's interaction with {Surgical Extraction} and realize its mana cost of {B}. It shines as a sideboard card for important control match ups, and I'd main board either more power or more removal.
I'd like to add that I didn't post because I don't like your deck. I think it's very good.
Thanks for your suggestions and explanations dudecore! I'll for sure try what you said out. It's kind of funny because I have a harder time deciding what should be in my sideboard than what should be in my deck.
I don't normally venture into Standard territory, but I just had to say I <3 this deck name! Wicked! ;D

I'm a casual, Vintage, Johnny/Timmy multiplayer (multiplayer player? I don't know how you'd say that properly.) . I just don't have anything constructive to offer Standard players. Plus the Standard section posts WAY to much for me to keep up.

UPDATED, even more perfected thanks to dudecore!
I tried putting the extractions in the board and messed around with some other things. Turned out great! I never beat delver before (well almost never), but I just tested the new build and destroyed it with the added removal and stuff. Thanks! :D
This deck is brutal my man! I love Black, and any deck with Nighthawk is okay in my opinion =]
Okay, update. I like the mainboard a lot. The main thing I changed was the sideboard. Instead of adjusting to my opponent, I make myself a totally different deck. The sb is meant to be sided in all at once. Even if I win the first game, I still do the switch to confuse my opponent. I take out all my creatures so the removal my opponent sides in are dead cards. A playset of {Staff of Nin} makes life groovey.
I tested it twice so far. It worked well vs. wolf-run-ramp, and it was HALLARIOUS vs. delver. One staff of nin makes things extremely hard for delver....let alone 2!
Input? :)
You did a great job on this deck nothin I could say
Kudos bud!! Like the deck a lot and I've never been a fan of mono color decks at all. But I can see you've worked hard on it and it looks really solid!
I think this deck should be a Top 10 build for Standard here.
I love it, and think its great you take every suggestion, and put a lot of thought into it. Just, great deck man, great deck
Any thoughts on the creature {shimian specter} for either this deck or just mbc?
I personnaly like {Tribute to Hunger} over {Geth's Verdict}. Also tribute can gain more than one life while the verdict is always going to make your opponent lose 1.

And tribute to hunger is 1 more land

I like shimian specter. It used to be in my sb against control (out obliterators, in specters), but I am trying a new sb scheme right now. I may very well go back to specters though, along with some other things. I do know that specter is a great 3-in-one tool. He has hand disruption, extraction power, and can deal damage all in one hit. Not to be underestimated.

Last FNM I used tributes because I had no verdicts. I found that using tributes was actually fine with my meta. The reason I have verdict in though, is because of the low mana cost. And against delver, I need to get rid of traft right when he comes out. If I don't have 3 lands by then, I will miss my chance to make them sac geist.
Another reason is mana curve. My 3 drop slots are pretty full right now with nighthawk and liliana. I feel that it is important to not skip my 2 drop.
However Tribute did do well at fnm, so I might do: -2 {Dismemver}, -1 {Go for the Throat}, +3 {Tribute to Hunger}.
Thanks for the advice sorry if I ramble.
