Title: Control??
Post by: TheRecklessPlaneswalker on August 06, 2012, 08:36:40 PM
Hello everyone I have a quick question! So if I make a control deck. I don't understand the win condition. How do you win with a control deck?

Lock out or slow opponent down enough such that you get your fatties down and protected. There are alternatives like control mill, burn/drain finisher, and setting up a game winning combo. But the easiest one would be dropping a fattie that they will have a hard time dealing against and putting them on a short clock.

Most game finishers with control are plainswalkers ({Nicol Bolas, Plainswalker}, for instance) or titans ({Frost Titan}, {Inferno Titan}, {Primeval Titan}, {Grave Titan}, {Sun Titan})

Standard. Colors: white, red , black

Why not blue? Blue is usually the "control" color, next to black's removal.

Yeah, Blue, Black, Red, is a great choice for control.

Card draw: Blue and Red
Removal: Black and Blue
Win con: Black, Blue, or Red...depending on your choice.

For his win con he can have:

2x {Nocol Bolas, Plainswalker}
1x {Karn, Liberated}
2x {Consecrated Sphinx}
2x {Frost Titan}

something like that :p you could even have {Liliana of the Veil}.

Oh sorry, I thought he posted {R} and not {W} haha.

Well just my opinion but I think grixis control is superior to esper. Though I am no expert. I have just played against both at fnm and grixis seems better.
