Title: Misinformation
Post by: Xanzurth on August 06, 2012, 08:35:58 AM
I have been noticing a disturbing trend in my local Playing spots. It seems with the competitiveness of the meta-game as of late experienced players have been giving out misinformation to newer/ less experienced players to eeck out a win.
Case in point I played one of the noobs and he {oblivion ring}ed my {Elspeth Tirel}. So a few turns later I {revoked existence} his {oblivion ring} and he tried to tell me that my Planeswalker then died because it had no loyalty counters on it. I was completely shocked. I was like no it doesnt and he got all uppidity and said yes it does because so and so "an experienced MtG player" said it does and that person knows better. So I took a deep breath and explained to him that things that return from exile are treated as if the were just cast from your hand so my Planeswalker entered the battlefield with her orginal number of loyalty counters.

Some jerk at my store told a noob, (after the jerk won the die roll) that the person who plays first creatures have haste.

Don't worry too much about it. That is why fnm exists, to bring the newcomer into a more competitive sport of magic and have the exprienced earn top. I still wonder why he wanted the planes walker in the graveyard.

Speaking of FNM... At my lgs there isn't even a judge. The lgs leaves ruling up to the individual... More than once I have had to bust out the rule section of this App for which I am greatful.

Still the attitude at my lgs is more of an "who cares, we are having fun". I dont mind that however when someone tries to {Phantasmal Image} a plainswalker, I have to call shenanigans.
