I run 4 {bloodghast} in my mono black vamp deck and he is so helpful with {blade of the bloodchief}.  I will just say {bloodthrone vampire} and {Phyrexian tower}.  You can sac him before combat, play a land, and sac him again.....gets nuts when you have 2 or more in play.

Yes, true. lifelink on a fragile 2/1 may gain you a bit of life before it dies, but once it dies, it's done. The Ghast can continue to affect the game time and time again. If you have cards that care about creatures living or dying {like bloodthirst) all the better.
