Well I'm not to into the new fusion mechanic. I get it flavor wise, but this isn't yugioh. I hope the art can sell me on the set. I love innistrad wotc, pleased not ruin this visit!
See I kind of like the merge mechanic. If you look at it, a majority of the merge cards, specifically Gisela and Bruna, are playable without focusing on merge portion. Sure merge does make them way stronger together but they still are pretty strong by themselves.
I am not a fan of the meld idea. But what pushes it into, the this is stupid range is for the two angels, one is rare, and the other mythic. Thats stupid as .poo..
Your not a limited payer. This is going to suck for limited. You have be able to draft both halfs to meld!!
Won't be much melding in limited
Also rumor has it only 3 meld cards in set
I doubt they would limit it to only the three they have announced. If anything they would probably do one for each color. The interesting thing is that the number on the card they flip and meld into is the number of the creature that says (melds with ___) not the creature with the actual effect that causes the meld.

It seems like a "win more" strategy. It's making two cards into one strictly better card that can easily be 2 for 1 by a kill spell. Doesn't seem remotely worth a slot in this set. It's a gimmick, and a bad one at that.

Article on mothership says only 3 in set
"There are three pairs of meld cards: Hanweir Battlements and Hanweir Garrison, plus two more you can read about in other articles on DailyMTG today."
