Yeah. SNOW LANDS WERE OKAY because they're not "official" and all that. Wizards is adding a 6th freaking color. It's like pokemon adding fairy types or yugioh adding Syncros. It's dumb

But they're /not/, as far as it looks.  Snow mana had its own symbol, it just didn't appear in any mana costs outside of activated abilities.  It's probably an oath-exclusive thing.  Maybe.

Bro. Foil wastes gonna cost pwards of 50+ calling it now. People who make colorless edh, ALWAYS pimp them out. It's the most difficult way to make an edh, and nothing says I have money and resources and technique than playing a freaking colorless edh. It's like hardcore mode
Depending on how <> is implemented, some colorless EDH people (like me) won't be using it.

And ew foils. Brown border ftw

mickeven

since its a basic land, colorless edh decks will be able to just run 40 Wastes right?

Evan Erwin is taking this as colorless symbol.  As in the  new kozilek.  He costs 8 <><>.    2 of the mana used to cast him must be colorless.  So that means you can use 8 mana of any lands plus 2 colorless mana.  So you could use the 2 from kozilek channeler since the channeler generates 2 colorless mana.  So this is just a basic land that's a 1 colorless.    New mana.   But not really

A symbol for colorless mana to distinct from generic mana does make sense. Lot of errata to be done though.

Barry's Land. They finally found a way to make it functional. Now we can have domain for 6!

So what is the story behind "Barry's land" is Barry an r&D guy?

{1} is any mana. The new stuff is /colourless/ mana. It's really not that hard to figure out till you have to explain things that tap for {1}.

Watch wizards completely flip us all the finger and be like "New Square mana!!!! Enjoy your new colored mana!" And then they do -one- set with it...

Well {1} can be paid for using <1> but <1> may not nessicarily be paid for with {1} depending on if the {1} was {G} or {R}

HOLY CRAP A USE FOR {KRUPHIX GOD OF ELDRAZI MANA CONVERSION}

OMG, Kruphix knew about the eldrazi, he converts all mana to colorless and he makes sure while your hand doesn't have to discard.... that sneaky bastard...
Yeah, that's quite a useful feature there.
Tap your lands in upkeep, drop Eldrazi + haste enabler first main.

I have a gut feeling that they will not errata past colorless lands to tap for -purple-. I think the mana cost will have the specified rule attached, see Phyrexian Mana for example..
I was refering to the purple mana from time spiral. It never made it out of R&D. It was gonna be used as a way to differentiate the alternative timeline stuff. Would have sat between blue and black but was scrapped for some reason i don't remember.
