RWBY. It's on Netflix and Rooster Teeth, it's amazing. It does have silly moments but it gets more serious in season two. If you can stomache Naruto you should be good. Did I mention that the fight scenes are amazing? The head animator, Mounty Oum, died recently but they will carry on.
Wolf's Rain. Just watch it. And be prepared to have your feels shattered into a million pieces. The fight scenes aren't too amazing (Naruto and RWBY really spoiled me.) but the plot, characters and character development are fantastic. I can't remember very much silliness but I remember plenty of seriousness.
A couple must watches include but are not limited to... Ao No Exorcist (or Blue Exorcist) C-Control (animation can get a little wonky sometimes because it has a tendancy to switch from 2-D to 3-D animation. Squid Girl (watching now and is so far quite entertaining) Devil is a Part Timer RWBY And Soul Eater
Genesis of Aquarion, FLCL, Voices from a distant star was hella depressing, Guilty Crown, Noein, Naoki Urasawa's Monster, and Ghost Hound are some of my favorites.
What makes it hidden? Everyone knew it was great when the original manga launched almost 30 years ago lol
"The series won the Kodansha Manga Award for general manga in 1993. It also won the Seiun Award for being the best manga of the year in 1996.[22] The live action film Parasyte: Part 1 had grossed around ¥800 million at the Japanese box office after two weeks.[23]"
So after reading this forum, I started to watch SOA. I finished season two last night, and had all of the feels. Go to work today, get over it slowly, and come back home fairly happy. Decide to rematch the last episode of season two, and now all of the feels are back T.T I love it so much, but I hate how it does this to me DX

Drarara has a more modern feel to it and is about a complicated city and all its workings as you fallow a boy as he explores the congested environment. It will keep you going to the next episode until its end.
Just in case anyone was looking for a decent anime to watch Hunter X Hunter is pretty sweet. My girlfriend is even watching it with me and she's never even watched anime.
Just re watched sword art online. Lots of fighting, but it's kind if a romance thing. Probably one of my all time favorite shows. Bonus: it is on netflix.
