Hey, I'm new to MTG. I bought my first Fat Pack last week. Anyone have any tips for constructing a deck? I could really use them!

60% Spells 40% Land or two spells for every land. Pick a card theme or combo you want to use and attempt to pick other cards that compliment your choices abilities or effects.

You could by one deck two times. Then just put the best cards in one deck. You also can buy more big packs and this stuff but you should concentrate on one creature type(goblin, dragon and so on) or deck type(counter, storm...)

If your just starting, creature based decks with simple ideas and late game bombs(big creatures with really good effects) are a good way to go. I wouldn't try to make combo decks right away stick to solid creatures and good removal spells.

Agreed. A tried and tested formula I use is 23 lands, 37 spells. In those 37 spells, I use 17 creatures and 20 other spells (instants, sorceries, enchantments and artifacts). In those 37 cards, I try (my absolute hardest) to make half of them cost 3 converted mana or below. I also try (again, my absolute hardest, lol) to only have 4 or 5 cards 6 or more converted mana cost. But in your case for a new comer, I agree with Alcapo, reverse the number I mentioned above; have 20 creatures and 17 other spells (including cards like doom blade, cancel, pacifism, etc...). Hope that helped and welcome to the awesomely nerdy world of MtG. I remember it was very daunting to create my deck when I began, granted I was 13 in 1994, I imagine it would only be harder now with the millions of new keywords and rulings, lol
