Going to go through the creature and non creature base. Explaining why they're here and why you should play them. The deck has been under some substantial editing. I've been working on it with some people with similar decks in the area. We've been working on it and this is the best draft so far.
Ornithopter- Good way to start the curve on this deck. Also a decent blocker.
Dream Stalker- More counters!!!???! all day e'ry day.
Runed Servitor on curve, dies and I get cards, you get cards, we all get cards. Everyone's happy.
Steel Overseer- Always good to power up my guys for more beats
Chief Engineer- Keeps me from being fully reliant on Animar. also on curve.
Phyrexian Revoker Lots of combo decks reliant on one card operating with its activated ability. Shuts those down while being on curve. Perfect for this deck.
Copper Myr If I don't have the counters, I'll have the mana. on curve, great for the deck.
Myr Sire- Chump blocker that makes a chump blocker. Nice.
now comes the question, Where'd the eldrazi go? Well the curve was too top heavy. I had to change it. They had to go. Shame really.
The Community Deck Spotlight asks for an interesting story. Here goes
So a couple weeks ago, a young man walked into monday night EDH with an Animar commander deck. As we sat down because we were paired against each other, I saw that they're deck was incredibly similar to mine, even though I hade never met this person before. Turns out it was someone who had seen my deck here on the forum and decided to build it. So after comparing notes and decks we think we have our best drafts for our playstyles.

-Tormod's Crypt +Doubling Season the crypt doesnt seem very useful in this deck because it kill the opponent fast enough that you dont need it and doulbing the counters on animar seems like a better idea IMO

I did that for a while then some guy with a The Mimeoplasm deck showed up at my LGS and so that's in there because he's really the only one I play with regularly
Mycosynth Lattice with your darksteel forge you'll be immune to any land destruction and animar will be indestructible too. Also Memnarch will be able to steal anything. And since you're running red, if you use mycosynth and have the forge on the field, Shatterstorm will provide a cheap and very filthy unfair boardwipe. If it goes off in your favor you can effectively win the game, even without the forge on the field you can still pretty much restart the game with it. It's like a really cheap Jokulhaups. Also with the lattice on the field Shatter is cheap instant speed removal for anything, combo pieces or just big beaters you don't want to stay around too long. And since you're running blue you can throw some artifact tutors in there to make sure you can get both the forge and the lattice out consistently. Also, with the lattice throw in a Hellkite Tyrant as an alternate win con, with animar on the field you could cast him for pretty cheap. He's an easy way to win and a nasty way to steal your opponents board.

The thing is I end up combining out turn four so Mycosynth Lattice doesn't even hit the field. I'm already running Memnarch. Hell kite tyrant will be added though
I don't really need stuff to put counters on Animar because I'm playing creatures for free and throwing more counters on him which allows me to play more free stuff
I combo'd out turn four and had 6 creatures on the battlefield. That means my Animar is a 7/7 and they'd usually scoop because they couldn't kill him. The one time I didn't combo out turn four I ended up wiping his board then throwing out all the Eldrazi creatures
Animar recently jumped to 15 dollars and he's one of cheaper parts of the deck. The deck costs around 600 dollars to build if you were wondering but it's a ton of fun to play. Well worth the cost
