Its kind of petty to get him in trouble if hes already left the forums.. Just my 2 cents, ok you wrote an essay voluntarily and didnt get te free stuff you 'deserve'
This happens to me daily in some form or another, its called life. Ish happens, mailing a letter to his parents 1)is just strange as you didnt even have his address, you had to get it from someone else and 2) pointless because it solves nothing
Of course just my 2 cents but i firmly believe in letting shiznit go, cmon people just because 1 side is immature doesnt mean we have to be (Let the negative karma come)
Let's say your teacher gives you an assignment and if you do the best out of all your fellow students, you get some fancy dudad. Now lets say your teacher declared you the winner and promised you your prize in front of all your fellow students. Would it not irritate you that your teacher fail to follow through on something you worked for and were promised? Lying is against imtg law. Breaking a promise is lying. If you can't follow through, don't commit. Simple, easy and straight to the point. I get that he's a kid, but slacking off on responsibility is not acceptable. I'm sure if I did this when I was 13, and my mother found out, she would guarantee that everyone got their cards then I would get a severe wiping. Rightly so I might add.

Breaking a promise isn't always lying, sometimes life gets in the way of future commitments. Not defending Mlerner12, but breaking a promise shouldn't count as lying. If I promise to pick you up from the airport and I get into an accident on the way, I didn't lie to you, but I did have I break the promise.

You know what? NO! It happened to me! That exact example! And guess what? I took the compliment on my good grade, and moved on. Because my teacher owes me not a darned thing. First of all one's word means less and less these days, its something everyone has to accept not just you. Also, theres no binding legal agreement, he owes you nothing as he has taken nothing. All you lost was time you spent choosing to do a contest. Basically you got scammed minus without any of the detriments. How many thousands of people lose money each year to scams and never get it back? You can choose to get upset, just like ive chosen to post my opinion. I just think if you took a step back youd realize its really not accomplishing anything to get him in trouble, unless you get some weird sense of satisfaction out of punishing a child for not giving you free things.

This is a bit of an exaggeration. Say you went on who wants to be a millionaire and won the million dollars and they never gave you the money. You would want it. It's the same thing here.
Except its not a million dollars, and theyre legally obligated to do so. And you can also do something about that such as sue. And a million dollars changes the severity versus a couple of packs of cards. Although if i did randomly just walk into who wants to be a millionaire off the street and won it all and they didnt get it, how upset could i truly be? I didnt have a million dollars before, and ill continue not having a million dollars. And after 7 months id surely have moved on.
Taysby is right, because it was offered openly, and a submission was declared winner, there is a legally binding contract via use of civil law and the use of promissory estoppel. Legally, if someone wanted to they could sue him, however, due to the fact that he is under the age of 14 he cannot be held liable for ANY contract.
This is why I now refuse to trade with anyone under the age of 14 If they can't or don't intend to keep their word then I don't want to associate with them.
Which means im right, not taysby.
And yes, thats a thing. Minors can't sign their own release forms what makes you think they can formulate and be held liable to a binding legal contract. Although id still say this is too much if he were 20, the fact that hes just a kid makes it all moot. Whatever though what do i know.
And i understand if he wishes to do so he can, i just was in a very disagreeable mood at the time. Not that i agree now i just dont feel so strongly now that im not so grumpy in general.
I will not ban myself from trading with 12 year olds, because I am 12, and on the TT list 11 or so times. Age is irrelevant.
No, it isnt. There's a definite level of maturity that the majority of people under the age of 15 do not posess yet. Though you may be trusted, age is relevant.
It's really starting to piss me off that you guys wont just leave him alone. He lied, he isnt a theif and he isnt a bad person.

Ah, I think you're somehow missing my point, or I'm not making it clear. I like Mlerner, and think he's a good dude. This is a way to clear his name, if only by a smidgen. Lolrus got his stuff, and if/when I get my stuff, then he has made progress instead of no one getting stuff. Agreed?
We were all once twelve. Except maybe me. I never age. But the rest of you were twelve and would you, honestly, do what Mlearner said he would do? some of you will say yes but then you realise that you didn't have a lot of money to invest into getting that one card. I'm supporting him because its not completely fair to him if he gets banned. I mean he's twelve and all you did to get this stuff was write something

I would never offer to do something if I knew I couldn't follow through...

You would if you thought you could follow through, though?
