I started when I was 8-9 ish. I'm 16 now and I'm one of those players that loves the older cards, and full art/foil lands. Also a goal of having 1 of every planeswalker and frame them.

Yea! All I have to say is know the basic rules and ask questions if you don't know if something will work. That and don't be cocky.. I've played with too many people that are too focused on winning that they go overboard and become one of those players you avoid. Competition is good in like tourneys, but outside that remember that its a game for fun. ^.^ This has been a PSA from your friendly neighborhood spider man.
Bumping this for someone who started a similar thread.
Remember when Alpha came out when I was in Junior high. D&D vs. The new Magic crowd.... I just started a similar thread in the Misc disscussion forum. Ha.
started playing in chronicles/ice age/4th edition.... took a hiatus from scourge to dark ascension (i missed a lot)... now im back to flood the modern scene with merfolk!!! 33 next month.
13 almost 14 started in zendikar, then quit after the first two scars of Morrison sets, and then started again in June. I missed innistrad and phyrexian mana.
I started out playing Pokemon and Star Wars trading card games in my younger years and slowly stopped. I've always been more of a tabletop board game, video/PC kind of gamer.
Earlier this year I was introduced to MTG and I didn't like it at first but after really learning the mechanics of the game and the ins and outs of cards I fell in love. I've been playing ever since and my card collection is forever expanding and changing.
So I guess you can say I'm a bit late to the party but I'm glad I came
I'm 21, I started playing a bit when I was 16 but lost interest in it and almost forgot about it. I recently got back into it about 8 months ago and I play all the time now
