I have not one, but TWO combos with that stinker, Sorrow's Path. The problems with this card are numerous, but I'll list a few.
•It counts as a land drop, but doesn't tap for mana. This leaves you behind in the mana race, which is not good.
•It rearranges precisely two of their blockers. No more, no less. Are there really that many situations where swapping exactly two is a stellar move? Maybe once in a purple moon, but not regularly.
•It's a land! A "combat trick" that sits on the table and says Howdy to everyone is about as sneaky as a shopping cart falling down a flight of stairs.
•If the blocking didn't work out for you the first time, is it really going to improve if you and all of your dudes take two damage?
•Finally, the damage is a result the land tapping. It has NOTHING to do with activating the ability.
The only way that I could conceive of this card being useful is to put it in a bag, light it aflame and leave it on your opponent's doorstep. Metaphorically of course. Ready?
Pull the ol' switcheroo with the Plotter and Donate the Path to your enemy. Then proceed to Twiddle the pants off that sucker until your opponent is a huddled crying mass. There are many variants to the cards I mentioned, just take with you the spirit of the combo.
This one's a riff off of a deck from the Mothership, tailored for the path of sorrow. What could be more horrific than a Sorrow's Path? Turning every creature and land into one! Bwahahaha With this, you convert everything into a 2/2 animated Path, and cause them all to tap. With the Deluge+Levitation trick, you and all your gear will float lazily about the madness of tapping and death below. Your opponents will take 2 damage per creature and land, and their side of the table will be swept away clean. Is it easy to pull off? No, but where's the sport in that?
See how hard I have to work to make something useful out of this thing? I must say though, I do enjoy turning Trash to Treasure. Well, maybe not treasure...
